How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?
I help my clients ditch the black and white thinking that often is associated with taking care of ourselves and our body and rediscover the joy of eating. My goal is to help my clients improve their physical and mental health with eating habits that are focused on nourishment and self-care. I believe that food is much more than just fuel and that rigidity and diets are not a sustainable answer. My goal is to get to know my clients as people and individuals first so that I can tailor our work to meet their needs to the best of my ability. I incorporate science, compassion, a strong listening ear, and a healthy dose of humor and levity into my counseling :)
Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?
I specialize in general wellness and nutrition concerns, sports nutrition, and disordered eating. I am currently pursuing additional specialties in sports nutrition which has sparked a passion to learn more about blending intuitive eating and traditional sports recommendations.
If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?
Paleontologist - it's like a never ending treasure hunt! Or owner and operator of a Bed and Breakfast. Decorating, hosting people, and cooking/sharing delicious food are some of my favorite things!
Where can we find you when you're not in client sessions?
I try and spend as much time outside as possible - whether it's conquering a mountain, relaxing by the river, or taking a stroll downtown. I love exploring new places near and far so travel is a big joy of mine as well!
