Erin Hancock Heath, MPH, RD, LDN

Outpatient Dietitian

(She/Her/Hers)

How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?

My approach to nutrition counseling is rooted in nonjudgement and compassion. Each person’s relationship with food is deeply personal and often related to their sense of self. Therefore, my aim during counseling sessions is to provide a comfortable, judgement-free zone that will allow my clients to be their most-authentic selves. I believe that compassion and curiosity are key when helping others achieve their food and nutrition goals.

Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?

My passion for dietetics stems from my love of building connection with others, so I am most passionate about outpatient services. This avenue of dietetics allows me to grow meaningful relationships with my clients through regular sessions together. Within dietetics, I am most passionate about working with folks who have Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational), as well as working with folks to heal their relationships with food and their body through a non-diet, HAES-aligned approach.

If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?

If I were not a Registered Dietitian, I would want to be an Event Planner. Event planning requires organization and creativity, two of my favorite personal skills. I also really enjoy bringing people together, hosting, and preparing or planning food and meals. It makes me extremely happy when I am able to provide others with what they need, and I think event planning could be one way to do that.

Where can we find you when you're not in client sessions?

When I am not with clients, you can find me cooking or baking, walking my dog, tending to my indoor plants, reading, or watching movies with my spouse. I also enjoy trying new restaurants, hiking, and traveling, but only when they can be done safely and while following the CDC’s COVID-19 guidelines.
