What To Expect

Our dietitians value inclusivity. We practice under the philosophy that all body sizes, genders, weights, abilities, races/ethnicities, and neurodiversity can be healthy and focus on a non-diet approach to balanced nutrition and sustainable health. Truth be told, there is no "quick fix" when nutrition is involved, so let Nutritious Thoughts pave the path for your journey.

Preparing For Your Visit

“Welcome to Nutritious Thoughts! My name is Kendra Gaffney, Nutritious Thoughts Group Practice Lead and Registered Dietitian. I hope to share a little bit about what the first few visits with a dietitian at Nutritious Thoughts might look like.

We want you to have the smoothest experience during your initial visit with your dietitian. If possible, please complete our Intake Paperwork prior to your scheduled visit. If you have questions about the paperwork, our admin team would be happy to help! Please reach out at 828-333-0096 for Intake Paperwork support. If you’re unable to complete your paperwork ahead of time, your dietitian will ask that this step be completed in the first part of your initial visit.

During your initial visit, your dietitian will gather information about many aspects of your life from your medication and supplement routines to any body image concerns you may have and everything in between. Initial visits last anywhere from 55-85 minutes. If at any point you need a break, you are welcome to take it! If your visit is in-office, we have accessible restrooms and tea and water available at all times. If your visit is virtual, we encourage you to interact with your space in a way that makes you feel most comfortable.

Our approach prioritizes relational care and getting to know you. We value creating collaborative care plans with you or your loved one to encourage sustainable steps forward in the nutrition counseling journey. Our care plans are typically delivered in the first few follow up visits with your dietitian.

We look forward to connecting with you and supporting you through your journey."
