Outpatient Dietitian

(She/Her/Hers)

How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?

My approach to nutrition counseling is one focused on building an authentic relationship centered around collaboration and trust. I believe there are two key elements in this relationship. One element is what I bring to sessions – nutrition expertise and empathy. The other element is what the client brings – expertise in themselves and lived experience. We then bring these pieces together during sessions to chart a path forward to get the best outcome. Nutrition counseling is something we do together.

Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?

My main interests in dietetics include perimenopause, disordered eating, chronic disease management, and sports nutrition. But if I simplify my passion, it is simply that I want to help people enjoy good health and feel good about themselves in the body they are in. I see perimenopause as a particularly challenging time for many people as hormonal changes can affect so many aspects of health. I want to cut through social media messaging and fads, help people focus on their health through nutrition, and offer genuine support during this time of life. I am also interested in family dynamics around nutrition practices to support building lifelong healthy eating patterns and to support recreational sport.

If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?

It’s funny. I asked myself a similar question six years ago: “If I could change careers, what would I do?” I chose the profession of Registered Dietitian. So, I decided to pivot and pursue a career in nutrition. I honestly feel like being a dietitian is the “other” profession for me! It perfectly combines my love of science, health, and human connection.

Where can we find you when you’re not in client sessions?

My happy place is definitely with my two sons and partner – wherever that may be. We all love to explore the woods either on foot or bike. The best dog in the world just happens to be our 12-year-old Border Collie who often joins in the fun. I can also be found in my small garden–and even though it really needs more sun(!)–it still brings me a lot of joy. When inside, I can be found playing a game with one of my kids, reading, or creating something in the kitchen – often bread. I got on the sourdough bread train a few years ago and never got off!
