Outpatient Dietitian

(She/Her/Hers)

How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?

My goal as a clinician is to create a judgement-free space where the client can communicate the needs that matter most, so that a conversation that is individualized to each client can take place that will lead to the positive change for which they are looking. One of my favorite lines is that “even baby steps are steps forward”. Change happens over time, and motivation ebbs and flows. I enjoy working with my client to understand what motivates them to achieve any goal.

Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?

Counseling has always been my favorite area of being a dietitian. I have enjoyed working with patients who have chronic health concerns and those interested in general wellness that are looking to answer questions around nutrition and exercise. I also enjoy helping people learn about herbs and spices to help support wellness. I am very interested in helping those with disordered eating and counseling.

If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?

I love teaching yoga and I have my 200-hour certification. I taught classes until beginning my career in 2018, and I still teach occasionally. I enjoy helping people with proper alignment to avoid injury, with seeing the fun in movement, and with seeing improvement in strength, mobility, and flexibility and range of motion over the span of classes.

Where can we find you when you're not in client sessions?

My husband, daughter, and dogs (much to my dismay, the cat does not enjoy walks) are with me outside in the mountains on weekends. I am also working on my green thumb with herbs and spices to make my homemade tea blends. I love to learn and read on a wide variety of topics!
