Sally Wimberley, MS, RD, LDN
How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?
Navigating the toxic messages of diet culture is an unending and daunting task that you do not have to face alone! I believe that nutrition counseling should approach health/wellness questions and complications with candor and humor, and of course a side of evidence based nutrition science! In our sessions you can expect me to be compassionate, honest, empathetic, encouraging, and above all else, real. My hope is to create a non-judgmental safe space where we can work together to re-imagine health and wellness.
Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?
I am passionate about recovery from eating disorders and disordered eating. Additionally, as a (somewhat new) mom, I am learning in real time how to navigate raising a whole human in a way that promotes intuitive eating and encourages weight/food neutrality, so I hold a particular interest in maternal and child nutrition. I am also interested in the intersection of gentle parenting and weight/food neutrality.
If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?
Oof- this one is hard for me. If I were a cat with nine lives I'd be a: Pilot! Electrician! Engineer! Hair Stylist! Contractor! Café owner! Gardner! Fermentation Scientist! Farmer!
Where can we find you when you're not in client sessions?
Although I love to travel, I am a homebody at heart. When I am not in client sessions I am either working on DIY projects at my house, playing outside with my toddler, watching or reading anything sci-fi, walking my dogs, or hanging out with friends by a fire.
