Outpatient Dietitian
(They/Them)
How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?
I value co-creating a space that honors and celebrates each person’s own autonomous experience as it relates to food, their body, their wellbeing, and their life. I believe in the power of a warm, safe, & curious space; the power of play as a form of healing; and the power of each person being an expert of their own body & well-being.
Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?
Food intersects all of life and, for me, food is personal; food is communal; and food is justice work. I believe that everyone is worthy of having access to spaces and support to heal and transform their relationships with food & their bodies. I also believe that policies, systems, and providers have to actively undo and rebuild systems internally and externally to create environments and food systems that are pro-food justice, pro-health at every size, anti-diet culture, anti-fatphobic, anti-racist, etc. I am most passionate about taking an active part in that process!
If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?
I would spend as much as time as possible participating in mutual aid work in the community that would include making herbal medicines for people and growing food & herbs to share!
Where can we find you when you’re not in client sessions?
You can find me writing spoken word poetry and sipping on a hot beverage; tending to the garden; dancing with dear friends and moving my body in a way that feels good for me in the moment; adventuring to forage medicinal flowers, herbs, & barks to make medicine to share with my community; doing mutual aid work in the community; reading Braiding Sweetgrass; and spending intentional, quality time with people who mean the most to me!
