How would you describe Nutritious Thoughts’ approach to workplace culture?
Nutritious Thoughts prioritizes a collaborative and supportive workplace culture. The organization emphasizes five core values:
- Authenticity: Encouraging team members to be true to themselves and live in alignment with their beliefs, values, and philosophies.
- Connection: Building trusting relationships through curiosity and vulnerability, while creating a space for sharing knowledge, perspectives, and experiences.
- Empowerment: Providing encouragement and support for our clients, team members, and communities to embody their authentic selves and help equip them with strategies and tools for personal growth.
- Compassion: Approaching our clients, team members, and communities with respect, gratitude, and an understanding of their lived experiences and perspectives.
- Inclusion: Honoring similarities, celebrating differences, and working towards clear, deliberate, and equitable communication. We actively work on anti-oppression through consultation with London Newton, Amanda Gross, and Ginelle Krummey.
Which avenue of dietetics do you feel most passionate about?
I am especially drawn to humane healthcare. Humane Healthcare is compassionate, kind and sympathetic medical care provided to individuals or a community. Despite our growing awareness of the need for change in our systems, healthcare experiences continue to have a harmful impact. At Nutritious Thoughts, we provide all staff with continuing education and training in relational care, anti-oppression, harm reduction, weight-inclusive care, eating disorder informed care, and trauma-informed care. Our goal is to help provide humane healthcare to all individuals through these frameworks.
If you were to have any other profession, what would it be and why?
I would be an interior decorator! I love to redesign spaces using a mix of artwork and repurposed items. It feels like a release of creativity while also regulating my nervous system.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time at home with my partner and pets, or with close friends and family. I like to relax by a fire, listen to live music, sunbathe, bird watch, or curl up with a warm blanket and movie. When I’m not at home or at work, you might find me hiking, dancing, or spending time in my community.
