Sarah Buie, RD, LDN

Outpatient Dietitian

(She/Her/Hers)

How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?

My approach to nutrition counseling is patient centered, evidenced based, and tailored to the individual. I practice with compassion and empathy in a safe space. I want to build trust and mutual understanding with my clients meeting them where they are on any given day. I want my clients to feel that the time we have in each session is theirs and theirs alone, that their sessions aren’t rushed and they feel genuinely heard.

Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?

I am most passionate about child and young adult nutrition. I want to focus more on neurodivergence, autism, ADHD, and ARFID. But above all else, I genuinely want to help all people build a trusting lifelong relationship with food and help as many people as I can throughout my career. I see nutrition as more than just what we eat but as nourishment for the mind, body, and soul. My passion for nutrition started with a fascination of the science behind it, how it worked and all of the amazing things that nutrition could do until eventually I decided that pursuing a career in nutrition was the best way for me to help people.

If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?

Before I wanted to be a Registered Dietitian, I used to work in food service and had always dreamed of being a specialty pastry chef making desserts that anyone could eat.

Where can we find you when you’re not in client sessions?

Typically, you can find me at home cooking and baking with my son. I enjoy reading fantasy novels, playing video games, crocheting, spending time with my partner, and hanging out with my friends.
